Appointment Bolsters Stritch Faculty
Martin Cohen, MD, an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of liver disorders, has been appointed associate professor, Department of Medicine, Stritch School of Medicine.
Cohen is also director of the hepatology program at Stritch.
Cohen’s professional interests include hepatitis, liver transplantation and fatty liver disease. Cohen is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Cohen began his affiliation with Loyola in July 2009. He received his medical degree in 1990 from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Afterwards, he did a fellowship in liver diseases at the University of Southern California, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Cohen comes to Loyola from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where he held the Richard B. Capps Professor of Hepatology endowed chair. While at Rush, he also served as medical director of liver transplantation and director of the section of hepatology.
Cohen has published a number of research articles, abstracts, book chapters and reviews in some of the world’s most prestigious medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Gastroenterology, the American Journal of Transplantation, Hepatology and the American Journal of Therapeutics.
